Photonic Quantum Sensing
Science and Engineering Center

Overview

Quantum information science is rapidly advancing, and Kyoto University is pioneering world-leading photonic sensing technologies such as quantum entangled microscopy and quantum infrared spectroscopy in the research and development of “photonic sensing,” which can break through the sensitivity limit of conventional optical sensing and add new functions by making full use of light states that “classical electromagnetics cannot describe” such as quantum entangled light. We are pioneering world-leading photon sensing technologies such as quantum entanglement microscopy and quantum infrared spectroscopy.

In the Graduate School of Engineering, the center aims to become a world-class center for academic deepening, social implementation, and human resource development of photonic quantum sensing through collaboration among the university-wide headquarters functions, the Graduate School of Science and the Graduate School of Medicine, as well as with external organizations such as the Quantum Technology Innovation Hubs (QIH).
